Jules Verne settled in Amiens in 1871, and lived there until his death in 1905. Over those years, he involved himself heavily in local life, served as a city counsillor, became chairman of the Academy of Science, Arts & Literature, was a board member of the Caisse d’Epargne, and a member of the Société Industrielle. His house, nicknamed the House with the Tower, has since become a must-see landmark for Jules Verne fans avid to learn more about him.
